Why these 3 options (beautiful game, intense finish, outstanding performance)?

Our research has shown these are the 3 possible ways people enjoy watching basketball. It’s not all about the highlights, it’s not all about the suspense, it’s not all about the great performances. It’s about some of these aspects, or all of them mixed up. If you have other suggestions, please let us know at bestgame@gmail.com

How does BestGame work?

- Select the type of content you want to watch:

  1. a beautiful game, from start to finish
  2. an intense finish
  3. an outstanding performance (by a team or a player)

- Pick your period (last night, last week, whole season…)

- Sit down, relax and enjoy your game

How do you rate the games?

Well, we don’t disclose that, because:

- if we do we’ll spoil the games for you. Imagine we told you buzzer-beater games have the highest ratings in the “intense finish” category, even more than OT games with no buzzer beater? Then you’ll know almost for sure that the best-rated “intense finish” game of the week had a buzzer beater. Spoiler.

- we have been working a lot on refining the algorithms of our ratings, and we keep fine-tuning them. It’s a bit like our own little Google Search algorithm: it must remain our best-kept secret for this service to live on.

- okay, we’ll reveal some secrets: we take into account a lot of criteria. Like a lot. From contested shot percentage to number of times the game was tied. And so on. Trust us, we know our shit.

Why don’t you provide links to watch the games? BestGame does not provide you with free game viewing links. We believe the NBA deserves some retribution for the entertainment it provides you with. So if you want to enjoy your games for free we’re sure you can find viewing links yourself, or else you can subscribe to the NBA League pass.

Do your algorithms include any bias towards some teams?

IRL we do, but for the purpose of our service here we don’t. If you hesitate between 2 equally-rated games, just pick the one with the teams your prefer ;). Just know that if we prefer one team, this hasn’t influenced our ratings.

I have watched games and do not agree with your ratings!

Encompassing the entire beauty, intensity and uniqueness of a game into algorithms is very complex: we keep on improving these algorithms, but certainly cannot claim we have reached perfection. If you have remarks or suggestions, we’d genuinely love to hear about them at bestgame@gmail.com
